Dr Brenda Talbot has a passion for optimising children’s development and their psychological wellbeing. She specialises in working holistically with children, adolescents and their families.
Working from a positive psychology perspective, Dr Talbot emphasises the importance of recognising and developing children’s strengths, in addition to identifying and providing guidance and intervention in areas of concern.
Dr Brenda Talbot qualified and worked as a teacher after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree (English & Psychology) at the University of KwaZulu Natal. After teaching English both in mainstream and remedial systems, she continued her studies to obtain a Bachelor of Education (Educational Psychology), and Masters in Education (Educational Psychology) which she achieved Cum Laude.
Following her registration as an Educational Psychologist, she worked in Special Needs Education for 8 years before entering private practice which she has pursued for the past 25 years. Dr Talbot graduated in December 2012 with a PhD (Child Psychology) from the University of Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa. Her thesis was entitled “The prediction of psychological well-being in children and adolescents with life threatening, long-term illnesses” . She provides counselling and support to children with cancer, and their families. In addition, she offers the following services: Educational Assessments , Developmental Assessments , Emotional Assessments , Psychological Counselling and Support and Medico-Legal Assessments.
